Dear Moorage Residents,
One of the simplest ways we can protect our homes and neighbors is by being ready to respond quickly if a fire starts on the dock or on a vessel. For this reason, it is important that each area of the moorage has a 50-foot hose with a working nozzle available nearby.
Please help us maintain this important safety measure:
- Do not remove hoses from the locations where they are placed. They are positioned so they can be used immediately in an emergency.
- Ensure a nozzle is attached and working. A nozzle allows the water stream to be directed to the base of a fire, which is essential for effective fire suppression.
- Check the hose near your home to make sure it is present, accessible, and in good working condition. (East side homes have a hose bib per house; West side homes share a common hose bib/standing hose rack per 2 or 3 houses.)
- Consider a second hose/nozzle for the back of your home. Recommended nozzle: Orbit 58984 Thumb Control
In the early moments of a fire, quick action with a nearby hose can make a critical difference while emergency services are on the way. Your attention to this small step helps protect not only your home, but the entire moorage community.
Thank you for taking a moment to double-check the hose/nozzle near your home and for keeping our community safe.
Best,
Joan Flora, EPIC Chair
