Life Jackets Available at the Ramp Landing

Dear Neighbors,

To help keep our community safe on the water, the Tomahawk Island Moorage has a Life Jacket Loaner Station (“Life Jacket Tree”) located at the bottom of the ramp during the summer months. Life jackets for both children and adults are available to borrow anytime you head out on the water. Simply return them when you’re done, so others may use them as well.

Oregon law requires all children 12 years old and younger to wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket while on a boat that is underway.

According to the Oregon State Marine Board, 85% of people who drown in boating accidents in Oregon would have survived if they had been wearing a properly fitting life jacket.

We also gladly welcome donations of life jackets in good condition. You may contact me directly or simply place donated jackets on the Life Jacket Tree during the summer months.

Thank you for helping keep our island community safe on the water.

Warmly,
Joan, #130
