Membership Forum and Agenda Requests
We value member input and participation. To ensure productive meetings and meaningful dialogue, the board has established two distinct pathways for member engagement: the Membership Forum and the Agenda Request Form.
Membership Forum
This is a time for members to share comments, appreciation, or concerns directly with the board.
Guidelines:
- Members must register at least 4 days in advance to speak.
- Each speaker is allotted 3 minutes.
- The Forum is not a space for deliberation—it’s for comments only.
- Examples of appropriate use: voicing appreciation (e.g., for the Maintenance Committee) or sharing general concerns.
- Please email the TDA President, Board Member, or Secretary with your request.
Agenda Request Form (Separate Process)
To have a topic formally discussed and considered by the board, members must complete and submit an Agenda Request Form.
The form requires:
- A clear description of the topic or concern.
- A proposed solution or recommendation.
- A statement of how the member will support or help implement the solution.
This process helps ensure the board is prepared to deliberate, research, and take action where appropriate.
Systemic Insight & Governance
- Building relationships with board members can help bring momentum to your ideas.
- Topics raised spontaneously during the Forum are unlikely to result in immediate action.
- Like a city council, the board operates with planned agendas to ensure transparency and effective governance.
Key Takeaways
- The board is committed to structured, transparent member engagement.
- The Membership Forum is for commentary, not discussion or decision-making.
- Members must use the Agenda Request Form for topics they want the board to formally consider.
- Informal conversations with board members are encouraged to advocate for and refine your ideas.
